Product Manager

Job Purpose  

To translate business objectives into engineering requirements with the goal of enabling Mimecast to win new business and to retain existing customers.  This generally consists of identifying and describing new product opportunities and enhancements to existing products.

The Product Manager will be a key member of the team responsible for collecting and authoring technical requirements for engineering and prioritising engineering resources to ensure they are optimally deployed across new products, features, enhancements and bugs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect requirements from internal and external sources.
• Evaluate and prioritise proposals.
• Create, maintain and communicate product roadmaps.
• Author technical requirements and business use cases.
• Liaise at all stages with other departments within Mimecast, most notably Development, QA, Project Management, Service Delivery, Education, Product Marketing and Pre-Sales.
• Represent the product development function to customers, prospects and other third parties.
• Commission new projects and track progress to ensure they fulfil evolving business needs.
• Ensure Mimecast products remain market-competitive.
• Provide product expertise at launch time (documentation and training) and beyond  (customer and pre-sales support )

Person Specification

The ideal candidate for the Mimecast team will demonstrate the following attributes:-

• Working within the Mimecast Engineering team requires an advanced level of broad technical understanding.  Prior knowledge of Mimecast services would be a distinct advantage.
• Administrator-level experience with any of the following technologies: Microsoft Exchange,Outlook and other mail clients, Email technologies, Cloud/SaaS services,Web 2.0 services, Production-critical, high-volume data centres
• Solve complex problems (technical, temporal, procedural and human)
• Exceptional ability to accurately and concisely describe challenging concepts
• Excellent written and skills for documentation
• Passion and drive for creating excellent products which delight our customers
• A strong personality who nevertheless seeks to build consensus within teams
• A highly organised self-starter who enjoys working with minimal supervision
• An agent of change who is prepared to go out of his/her way to challenge the status quo
• An appreciation that with great opportunity comes great responsibility
